Identifying and handling non-compliant piracy sites
MUSO is committed to maintaining a highly accurate piracy database with a strong compliance rate. However, on occasion, we may encounter a piracy site, new or previously recorded, that becomes non-compliant.
What is a Non-Compliant Site?
A non-compliant site is a domain that fails to take action upon receiving a takedown notice. This means they will not remove infringing content from their site when notified of its presence.
Handling Non-Compliance:
When we identify a non-compliant site, MUSO initiates an escalation process to address the infringing content. Unfortunately, if confirmed as non-compliant, MUSO will no longer be able to send takedown notices to that specific domain.
Alternatives for Non-Compliant Sites:
For non-compliant sites, MUSO recommends submitting a Google delisting. This action aims to remove and delist any infringing pages from Google, making them more difficult for users to find.
